MEET KAREN

Karen Reeder grew up learning that leadership starts at home. Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, her life was shaped by faith, family, and community. Those lessons followed her everywhere: be honest, work hard, show compassion, and when something isn’t right, don’t stay quiet; stand up. She grew up learning the value of people: neighbors who look out for each other, families who lift one another up, and communities that stand together no matter what. Today, Karen is proud to call Brazoria County home. She is a mother, a Mechanical Engineer, a community-builder, and a woman who believes leadership starts with listening and serving.

A Life Built on Purpose
Karen built her career in one of the toughest industries in America: oil and gas. For 19 years, she led multimillion-dollar engineering projects, managed large teams, solved complex problems, and delivered results with precision and integrity.
Ask her what she is most proud of and she will never mention titles.
She will simply say: “I’m a mom first. Everything else comes after.”
Motherhood grounded her. Engineering sharpened her discipline. Community shaped her heart. Together, they taught her the kind of leadership that strengthens families: compassionate, practical, and honest.
She has always been the person who steps in when something needs fixing, whether it is a broken system, a struggling neighbor, or a community that deserves better.
The Heart Behind Her Work
More than fifteen years ago, Karen founded Platinum Divas, a sisterhood built to empower and uplift women. It became a safe space where women connected, grew, shared, and supported each other through life’s challenges.
That same spirit lives in everything Karen does: uplifting people, amplifying unheard voices, and building community from the inside out.
She has served as president of multiple student and professional organizations, mentored young professionals, and created programs that give women strength, confidence, and opportunity.
She’s spent her life solving problems, guiding people with care, and bringing purpose into every space she enters.
